– It was introduced by Balenciaga a few seasons ago. As Shopehauer said: every truth goes through 3 stages: firstly it is mocked, then it is denied and finally it is taken for granted
Currently Balenciaga has 2 models of big sneakers: Triple S and Speed (slightly smaller than their ‘bigger brothers’)
– I was not convinced to these shoes for several reasons: I was afraid that the foot size 39 (5,5 UK) will be optically enlarged with a large shoe and that it would look like a kayak. As I am pretty tall (171cm/5’7”) I did not want look taller than I am without the high heels
– It took me a while to break the resistance to big shoes. First, I asked my husband to wear them. He was also quite reluctant to big shoes. His size is 41 (7,5 UK) – quite small for a man. There was however no concern of the visual enlarging the foot.
– After 2 seasons, I finally decided on the Gucci Flashtreak with Crystals – leather ones in one season and velvet ones in the next one.
Yes! They are heavy but comfortable. They are also … big. They catch on the tables and chairs legs – so people sometimes trip over their own legs. But as they say – what can’t be done for fashion?
– This season I finally fell for the classics – Balenciaga Triple S. I liked them very much.
– Interesting fact! My initial concerns that the size 39 of big sneakers would look ridiculous has completely disappeared. My perception has changed – now somehow I’m not into smaller – i.e. normal 🙂 – shoes. What’s more, I borrow shoes from my husband when they match my outfit!
